ArcGIS Survey123 Connect passes choice names or domain codes as strings when publishing to ArcGIS Online, no matter what field type is applied to the question, resulting in errors when editing the data.

Workaround

Edit one of the Domain Values for the field in ArcGIS Online by opening the layer's Item Details page > Data Tab > Fields Tab. Choose the Select_One field and click Edit next to the List of Values. Re-type one of the domain and code pairs (can be exactly the same as it was before) and click Save changes. The field works as expected, as this updates the JSON to view the code values as integers rather than strings.
