ArcGIS Explorer (build 3400) cannot add data layers from an enterprise geodatabase from an SQL Server using the operating system authentication.

ArcGIS Explorer Desktop is no longer supported.

Workaround

Workaround 1

  1. Click Add content > Geodatabase Data.
  2. In the geodatabase, type: ArcSDE Geodatabase \. The 'Add geodatabase' window is displayed.
  3. Provide the database server name in the server parameter.
  4. Use the following connection string in the server parameter: sde: sqlserver: InstanceName
  5. Provide the database name.
  6. Choose the appropriate version using the Change parameter in the Transactional version parameters.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Add choose and add the dataset.

Workaround 2

  1. In ArcMap, if a layer is saved as a layer file, open it in ArcGIS Explorer.
  2. Add the data from the geodatabase.
