ArcGIS 10.2.2 for Server image service crashes at certain scales when the underlying imagery coordinate system differs from the mosaic dataset and is projected into another coordinate system, for example, in ArcGIS Online's web map viewer.

Workaround

  1. Use the same projection for the mosaic dataset and the imagery.
  2. Cache the service.
  3. Upgrade to ArcGIS for Server 10.3.1.
