Additional Information

The Business Analyst Server machine has components that must be installed to have ArcCatalog display the forms for Business Analyst Capabilities. Please use ArcGIS Server Manager if you are not on the Business Analyst Server machine for managing Business Analyst Capabilities of a map service.

Workaround

1. Edit the BAServerConfig.xml and BAServer_DATASETS.xml to use uniform naming convention (UNC) paths for all the data references. 2. For the file-based repository, do not map it directly to a share; map it to a folder inside of the share. For example, instead of <a href="file://server/share," target="_blank">\\server\share,</a> where "share" is the shared folder, use <a href="file://server/share/BAServerRepository," target="_blank">\\server\share\BAServerRepository,</a> where "BAServerRepository" is a folder inside of the shared folder.3. Manually publish the default map service instead of using the Post install.a. Open ArcCatalog. Make an administrative connection to the BA Server Host machine in the GIS Servers node of ArcCatalog.b. Right-click the administrative connection and select Add New Service. Specify a name for the service and specify that this is a Map Service. The default name of the BA Capable map service, when created by the BA Server Post Install, is DefaultMap. Having this name for the map service allows for more efficient testing, as this is the name specified in many of our sample requests. Click Next.c. In the Map Document box, navigate to Default.mxd in the <BAS Data Install Folder>\ArcGIS\Server10.0\Business Server\Data folder using the UNC path and select this MXD for the map service. Click Next. d. In the box in the upper left-hand corner of the next dialog, scroll down and check the box next to the Business Analyst Capability. This exposes the Business Analyst Properties in the bottom box of the dialog.e. Click Load… under the Business Analyst Server configuration file box. Navigate to the <ArcGIS Install>\ArcGIS\Server10.0\Business Server\ServerConfig folder and select BAServerConfig.xml. This loads the BAServer_DATASETS.xml file in the Datasets Configuration File box below. f. Confirm that the information is correct.g. Click the Datasets tab in the Business Analyst Server Properties dialog and confirm that the data paths being used for these properties use the UNC naming convention. h. Click Next. Click Next. Click Next. Click Finish. The map service is created and should start.
