After splitting a polygon using the 'Cut Polygons' tool, gaps appear between the polygon involved in the cut operation and the surrounding polygons.

Additional Information

ArcGIS Desktop (including ArcGIS Engine and ArcObjects) is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026. Mature support means the end of functionality-based patches and hotfixes; therefore, this issue will not be addressed. There are no plans for future releases of ArcGIS Desktop, and it is recommended that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro. Workaround

Use the split function in ArcGIS Pro.

  • Issues reproducible in ArcMap 10.4, 10.6.1, 10.7.1, 10.8.1.
  • Kindly refer to the attached video for more insights.
  • Unable to zoom to scale 1:1 for the feature layers having GCS projection.
