Additional Information

Shapefiles that use code pages and a two-width text field are two bytes. Since ASCII characters are always single-byte, this is not a problem. Chinese characters are multibyte, requiring at least two bytes or more. Two Chinese characters do not fit in a two-width text field in a shapefile. File geodatabases, mobile geodatabase, and GeoPackages use Unicode which does not have this issue. If a standard data format is desired, use GeoPackage. Refer to the following link for more information, https://www.geopackage.org/. ArcGIS Pro supports GeoPackage.
