A REST request to an ArcGIS Server Web Map Service (WMS) service fills up the INetCache folder on the web server when the service is configured to use an external capabilities file.

Additional Information

To avoid filling up, cache copy the files to a location that is accessible to the server and use the file URI (or path) to specify the location for external capabilities. For example, if the capabilities files are named capa100.xml, capa111.xml, capa130.xml and are located in C:\Temp then specify c:\temp\capa in the external capabilities property.

Workaround

  1. Change the registry settings for the ArcGIS Server service account: 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache\Persistent' to keep the value as 0.
  2. Restart the machine.
