Additional Information

Users do not need to register a reference to a public ArcGIS Server hosted feature service with their ArcGIS Enterprise portal. Refer to the steps in the workaround section which explains a preferred method for accessing the public feature services and feature layers.

Workaround

Users can register a server connection with ArcGIS GeoEvent Server to the same server used by Living Atlas and choose from the available feature services and feature layers as they would using feature services hosted by their on-premise ArcGIS Enterprise portal.

For example:

  1. Register an ArcGIS Server type connection specifying https://services9.arcgis.com/RHVPKKiFTONKtxq3/ArcGIS as the URL.
  2. The user name and password credentials can be incorporated into the ArcGIS GeoEvent Server registered server connection if required to access any of the services in the specified ArcGIS REST Services Directory.
  3. Credentials are not required to access feature layers beneath public feature services such as NWS_Watches_Warnings_v1.

Note: The user experience is much better when registering server connections to public servers at ArcGIS Enterprise 11 than at 10.9.1 and earlier releases. ArcGIS GeoEvent Server no longer crawls a server's REST Services Directory to build a cache of available services beginning with the ArcGIS Enterprise 11 release.
