This issue is not reproducible in ArcGIS Pro 2.2.

Workaround

The following expressions resolve this issue in ArcGIS Pro 2.0, ArcGIS Pro 2.1.1, and ArcGIS Pro 2.1.2: 
var outer =Split($feature.Object,'\\(')var inner=Split(outer[1],'\\)')return inner[0]
