Additional Information
The issue has been fixed in 10.2.Workaround
1) Add couple of images in the ArcMap session.2) Right click on the TIFF image in the table of content > Data > Export data3) Set the output workspace and output name 4) Select format as Imagine image (IMG)5) Click Ok.6) Create mosaic dataset using IMG images and publish it as image service.7) Check the image service preview in ArcGIS Javascript viewer for REST.Steps to Reproduce
