WMTS layers from Copernicus Marine Datastore fail to display in Map Viewer ArcGIS Online despite functioning correctly in Classic Map Viewer.

Workaround

Instead of adding the URL directly to the map, search for the layer using the generic URL, save it, and then add it to the map.

 From ArcGIS Online:

1. Go to Content > New Item > URL OGC WMTS.
2. Enter the following URL: https://wmts.marine.copernicus.eu/teroWmts?service=WMTS&version=1.0.0&request=GetCapabilities.
3. The list of layers will be displayed.
4. Search for the layer starting with: cmems_mod_glo_phy-cur_anfc_0.083deg_pt.
5. There are three layers. Select the third one titled: cmems_mod_glo_phy-cur_anfc_0.083deg_PT6H-i_202406 - Sea water velocity (sea_water_velocity).
6. Save the layer.
7. Open it in the new Map Viewer. After a few moments, the WMTS layer will be displayed.

Another workaround is to use Map Viewer Classic.
