Bug
When using a shapefile or feature class as input for the Make XY Event Layer geoprocessing tool, the output layer contains two Shape fields, preventing export of the event layer to a shapefile.

Use gp's CopyFeatures or FeatureclassToFeatureclass tools to export.Workaround
1. Right-click the desired layer in the table of contents and click Open Attribute Table.2. Choose the Table Options drop-downand click Export.3. Select the Output Table file browser and navigate to the location where the output DBF is to be stored. Click Save > OK > Yes.4.
