Using the simple Add or Join function in the Python script within the toolbox runs successfully but does not produce any results.

Using a derived output parameter of type Feature Layer in the script tool results in the desired behavior of the join appearing on the intended layer. Workaround

  • Use the geoprocessing (GP) tool.
  • Run in the Python window.
