Workaround

If the input is a 3D point feature, use the 'Add XY Coordinates' tool to write the Z coordinates into the attribute table. If the input is a line or polygon feature class, use the 'Feature Vertices to Points' tool to convert the line/polygon to points, then add the Z coordinates to the dataset with the 'Add XY Coordinates' tool. Since the 'Feature Vertices to Points' tool is restricted to the ArcInfo license, however, this workaround will not be available for a significant number of users.
