The toolbox script edit command uses Python IDLE as the editor for Python files regardless of the Windows Explorer setting for the application to open files having the .PY extension.

Workaround

In Windows Explorer Folder Options, Advanced settings, make note of the parameters for the Python IDLE editor (click the Edit button to see the parameter settings), then delete "Edit with IDLE" from the Actions list. Make sure the "Edit with Pythonwin" entry is first in the remaining list of actions.
