“The item's XML contains errors” displayed in ArcCatalog Description Tab when viewing .xml metadata generated using XSLT Transformation Tool and using the “generate metadata template.xslt” as Input XSLT Transformation Tool.

Workaround
1. In the Catalog window, right-click the folder where you want to store the metadata template. 2. Click New > XML Document. A new XML file with the default name New_XML_Document.xml is created in the folder. The item's name can instantly be modified to something more appropriate.3. Type an appropriate name for the metadata template. 4. Press ENTER. 5. Click the Metadata importer tool in ArcToolBox > expand Conversion Tool >> Metadata Toolset Source Data: Select San Diego.shp (browse to the downloaded folder location)Target Data: Select the xml created in step 26. Click Ok 7. In ArcCatalog table of Content select the xml created in step 28. Click the Description tabThe contents of the metadata template will be displayed.Schritte zur Reproduzierung
