The error message, "Failed to add data, unsupported data type.", is returned when adding a dataset to a map in ArcGIS Pro from an OLE DB connection using the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server.

Workaround

Workaround 1: Use SQL Server Authentication with the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.

Workaround 2: When establishing the OLE DB connection:

1. Select 'Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers'.
2. Set up a Data Source Name (DSN).
3. To utilize Entra ID with multifactor authentication (MFA), configure the DSN by selecting 'With Microsoft Entra ID Interactive authentication using a login ID entered by the user'.
