Editing is not allowed and a warning to check permissions appear when attempting to edit a point feature class after previously editing and running a Buffer tool on it within the same session, where the attribute table is open and Background Processing is enabled.

Workaround

  • Use ArcGIS Pro.
  • Export the feature class to a new feature class or reopening the .mxd will resolve the issue.
