Displaying ArcSDE feature classes with multiple joins is slower in ArcMap 9.3 or 9.3.1 than it is at 9.2 Service Pack 6 when using the option 'keep all records'.

Workaround

Set the join with "keep only matching records" so it can be processed in the database, not ArcMap.
