Delete protection cannot be enabled on an item pulled into ArcGIS API for Python through a get request, and the error message, "TypeError: 'bool' object is not callable" is returned.

This issue is not reproducible in ArcGIS API for Python 1.9.x. There is no difference between the Item in search and with get. It is the same class. If this issue persists, upgrade to the latest version of ArcGIS API for Python.

Workaround

Use the search method to bring the item into the script before running the protect function.
