Database connection strings inside of ArcGIS Server's dsconnections.lst files may become damaged when validating data store connections in ArcGIS Server.

Workaround

This defect is addressed in the ArcGIS Server Security 2025 Update 1 Patch. The URL is:

Patches are available for versions 11.3, 11.2, 11.1, and 10.9.1. Please refer to the “Issues addressed with this patch” section of the patch page to determine the version(s) where this defect is addressed.

Manually restore dsconnections.lst files from healthy backup copies.

  1. Stop ArcGIS Server Windows service.
  2. Restore healthy backup of dsconnections.lst to config-store and DatabaseSupport locations.
  3. Start ArcGIS Server Windows service.

Regenerate dsconnections.lst file to a fresh state.

  1. Stop the ArcGIS Server Windows service.
  2. Delete dsconnections.lst files in config-store and DatabaseSupport locations.
  3. Start ArcGIS Server Windows service.
  4. Perform Validate All from ArcGIS Server Manager > Site > Data Stores.
