The issue is no longer reproducible.Workaround
Create the variables in the Comparison Report wizard or the Color-Coded Maps wizard, then add the variables to the report rather than creating the custom variables within the report. However, this puts in the variable ID rather than the name.Schritte zur Reproduzierung
