After executing 'conda clone' and 'conda update', the derived new Python environment contains an erroneous version of Pillow-SIMD 8.2.0 which originates from Esri's channel and causes ArcGIS Pro to crash.

Workaround

The workaround is represented by preventing the conda from upgrading to the erroneous Pillow-SIMD 8.2.0. For this, a YAML configuration can be implemented as depicted below (highlighted in cyan):

A newly Python environment is created with the YAML configuration as displayed below:

After applying the version constraints, the Python code can be successfully executed as illustrated below:
