Activating "Only show features visible in the map extent" in Legend properties causes ArcGIS Pro to load indefinitely.

Workaround

  1. Open project package.
  2. Switch to map view.
  3. Change symbology to Stretch.
  4. Go back to layout view and click Legend > show properties in legend pane.
  5. Activate Only show features visible in the map extent.
  6. Go back to symbology in map view > Switch to Discrete symbology.
  7. Switch again to Classify.
  8. ArcGIS Pro is loaded as needed.
