Workaround

Close and reopen the attribute table.
Save the map document and close it.
Relaunch the .mxd file. The missing attributes are displayed.
In the Catalog pane, search the folder location for the shapefile, and open the shapefile properties.
Go to the Indexes tab and click Update.
Export the shapefile to a new shapefile. The missing attributes are retrieved.
