Last Published: July 20, 2023

Summary

Note:
This article pertains to ArcGIS version 10.0. Later versions of ArcGIS may contain different functionality, as well as different names and locations for menus, commands and geoprocessing tools.

Instructions provided describe how to create and update a registry string value used to override the default location of the Home folder for new documents. This process involves editing the system registry.

At 10.0 Service Pack 5, a new registry value can be used to set the default Home folder for new untitled documents. This new Home folder is used on the next restart of the application. This directory is also the location where the default geodatabase is created for new documents.
