[ARCVIEW-L] Query question
2009-11-02 10:16:00.0
To all,
i have over 650,000 points in my shapefile, collected with gps. i do not need to visually show all these at the moment (creates too large of a pdf)..... i'm not that good w/ vb to query some out... but i was thinking that perhaps i could create a definition query of every 10th point... any suggestions how to do this? i know it must be easy... thanks, Christine Doolan, GIS Technician II Rockland County Planning Department - GIS 50 Sanatorium Road Building T Pomona, NY 10970 www.rocklandgov.com ----------------------------------------------------------------- This email, including attachments, may include confidential and/or proprietary information. [ARCVIEW-L] SUM: Query Question
2009-11-02 02:05:00.0
thanks to gary mohr and gerald gabrisch for their input!
1. Make sure each point has a unique ID number. Then run a select by attribute query: MOD( "Unique_ID",10) = 0 That selects all points with Unique_ID values divisible by 10 with a remainder of 0; every 10th point. 2. http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=16289 original question: i have over 650,000 points in my shapefile, collected with gps. i do not need to visually show all these at the moment (creates too large of a pdf)..... i'm not that good w/ vb to query some out... but i was thinking that perhaps i could create a definition query of every 10th point... any suggestions how to do this? i know it must be easy...
