Error Message

When configuring a .NET Web ADF control or task inside of Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition, the following error message is displayed and the application closes unexpectedly:

"Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.mshtml, Version=7.0.3300.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its
dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

This error may occur when configuring the MapResourceManager, MapTips, Query Attributes Task, Search Attributes Task, Find Address Task or Find Place Task.

Cause

The .NET Framework Version 2.0 Software Development Kit is required in order to use Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition with the .NET Web ADF.

Solution or Workaround

  1. Navigate to the MSDN .NET Framework Developer Center.
  2. Download the (x86) version of the .NET Framework Version 2.0 Software Development Kit (SDK).
  3. Launch the setup and install the ‘Tools and Debugger’ feature. The other features listed are optional.
