Article ID: 32910
Bug Id: N/A
Software:  ArcInfo Workstation 8.0.1, 8.0.2, 8.1, 8.1.2, 8.2, 8.3, 9.0, 9.1, 9.2, 9.3

Description

ArcInfo Workstation starts very slowly.

Cause

A difference in the names for the license server in the License registry key and the ArcInfo Workstation registry entry can cause the Workstation executables to start very slowly.

Solution or Workaround

Use the Registry Editor to compare the license servers listed in the Registry:

  1. Navigate to Start > Run, type regedit and click OK.
  2. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESRI\License and review the Data value for LICENSE_SERVER, for example @click.
  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESRI\ArcInfo\Workstation\8.0 and review the Data value for LICENSE_SERVER, for example @click.
  4. If there is any difference between the two, determine the correct license server name and correct the erring entry.
