FAQ: Can an Attribute Domain, That is in Use by a Feature Class or Table, Be Modified?

Answer

The values for a coded value domain and the valid range for a range domain can be modified while that domain is referenced by a table or feature class in the geodatabase. The field type for a domain cannot be changed and a domain cannot be renamed.
