New Release! ESRI announces the ArcSDE 9.1 for Oracle10gR2 release for HP-64, IBM-64, Linux, Solaris-64 and Windows.
The Server component of this release of ArcSDE 9.1 for Oracle10gR2 includes all the fixes addressed in previously released 9.1 Patches and Service Packs. It also includes all the fixes addressed in ArcSDE 9.1 Service Pack 2. Therefore, you do not need to install ArcSDE 9.1 Service Pack 2 top of the Server component of this release. However ArcSDE 9.1 Service Pack 2 must be installed on your client applications before you install the SDK component of this release. Please see the SDK documentation below for specific instructions for SDK users.
A CD of this release is also available for users who experience difficulties downloading the release from the web site. Please contact ESRI's Customer Service or your international Distributor to order the CD.
It is strongly recommended that you back up your database including all previous ArcSDE system tables and user layer data before upgrading your ArcSDE installation. Install this release using your SDE user account.
REQUIRED INSTALL STEP: If you connect to ArcSDE 9.1 via an Application Server and Direct Connect connections using ArcGIS 9.1, ArcIMS 9.1, or ArcView GIS 3.3 with DBA 2.1g make sure you also see ESRI Products connecting to ArcSDE (Application and Direct Connect connections).
INSTALLATION NOTE: The ArcSDE 9.1 for Oracle10gR2 release includes the ArcSDE Installation Guide from ArcSDE 9.1 for Oracle9i. There are a number of changes you will have to consider when reading the ArcSDE 9.1 for Oracle9i Installation Guide while installing and setting up the ArcSDE 9.1 for Oracle10gR2 Release.
1. All references to Oracle9i can be changed to Oracle10gR2.
2. All references to the sdesetupora9i command should be substituted with sdesetupora10g.
3. All references to the sdeservice o create d oracle9i,SID command should be substituted with sdeservice o create d oracle10g,SID

The ArcSDE 9.1 for Oracle10gR2 release is available on the following UNIX
and Linux platforms:
