Introduction

ESRI® announces the ArcGIS Desktop 9.1 Raster Patch. This Patch resolves a variety of issues specific to working with raster data such as restoring 16 bit NITF 2.0 support, GeoTIFF header information support, improper world file removal, and the associated worldfile (.sdw) in not being created when encoding MrSIDs from your input raster datasets. It deals specifically with the issue listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.

We recommend that all ArcGIS Desktop 9.1 customers who use raster/image files, download and install this Patch at their earliest convenience to ensure the highest quality experience when working with ArcGIS Desktop 9.1.

Issues Addressed with this Patch

CQ00272548 - Support for CCITT G4 TIFF and PackBits TIFF compression types are restored.

CQ00272575 - World files are no longer deleted when manipulating any part of a raster's spatial reference.

CQ00272826 - Support for GeoTIFF tags containing spatial reference information is restored.

CQ00274549 - Support of 16 bit NITF version 2.0 raster files is restored.

CQ00272147 - MrSID Encoder is not creating the associated worldfile (.sdw) when encoding MrSIDs from your input raster datasets.

Installing the Patch

ArcGIS Desktop 9.1 must be installed before you can install this Patch.

1. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS Desktop installation location, and that no one is using ArcGIS Desktop.



2. Download ArcGIS-91-Raster-Patch.exe to a location other than your ArcGIS Desktop installation location.
   
   
3. Double-click the setup file to start the install process.



4. When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.

NOTE: If you have installed client setups from a shared Network Administrative ArcGIS Desktop setup, this Patch must be applied to all client installations.

How to identify which Patch is installed

To check for the presence of a Patch, for each file examine the unique identification information provided (right click, properties, version tab, item name, QFE Version). With only a few exceptions, all files modified as part of a Patch distribution can be uniquely identified in this manner. The identification string for this Patch should read:
