Description

ESRIĀ® announces the ArcGIS Explorer 900 \ ArcGIS Image Server Conflict Resolution Version Patch. This patch addresses cases where ArcGIS Explorer 900 is installed on the same machine as ArcGIS Image Server or ArcGIS Desktop machines that make connections to Image Services. We recommend that all who use ArcGIS Explorer 900 on the same machine as ArcGIS Image Server or ArcGIS Desktop machines that make connections to Image Services, download and install this Patch at their earliest convenience to ensure the highest quality experience. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.
 

Issues Addressed with this Patch

  • NIM046078 - ArcGIS Image Server 9.3.1 conflict with ArcGIS Explorer.
    Description: When ArcGIS Explorer is installed on a machine with ArcGIS Image Server a registry change occurs and ArcGIS Image Server is unable to find the correct location of certain registry keys. This renders ArcGIS Image Server unusable because ArcGIS Image Server Manager and sometimes ArcGIS Imager Server Viewer will throw an error message or crash. This patch executable lays down a new file and re-registers it correction the errors and allowing all ArcGIS products to fully function on the same machine.
  • NIM047684 - Add Image Server Connection button in ArcMap does not work after installing ArcGIS Explorer 900.
    Description: When ArcGIS Explorer is installed on a machine with ArcGIS Desktop which is using the Add Image Server Connection functionality. A registry change occurs and the Add Image Server Connections Button cannot find the correct location of registry keys. The Add Image Server Connection button functionality will stop working. This patch executable lays down a new file and re-registers it correction the errors and allowing all ArcGIS products to fully function on the same machine.

Installing the Patch

ArcGIS Explorer 900 must be installed before you can install this Patch. You must have administrator privileges and ensure that all ArcGIS products are not currently open.

  1. For a successful installation of the ArcGIS Explorer 900 \ ArcGIS Image Server Conflict Resolution Version Patch, existing ArcGIS Products installed on your machine must be closed and ArcGIS Services must be stopped.

    • If ArcGIS Server Java or .NET is installed, before installing ArcGIS Explorer, stop the ArcGIS Server Object Manager service. Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Select ArcGIS Server Object Manager > right-click Stop.
    • If ArcIMS is installed, before installing ArcGIS Explorer, stop the ArcIMS Tasker, ArcIMS Monitor and ArcIMS Application Server (in this order). Go to Control Panel> Administrative Tools > Services > Select ArcIMS Tasker > right-click Stop, do the same for ArcIMS Monitor and ArcIMS Application Server.
    • If ArcGIS Image Server is installed, before installing ArcGIS Explorer, stop the ESRI Image Server, ESRI Image ServiceProvider, and the ESRI ImageServerReporter. Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Select ESRI Image Server > right-click Stop, do the same for ESRI Image ServiceProvider, and ESRI ImageServerReporter.
  2. Download EXP900-IS-CRV-patch.exe to a location other than your ArcGIS Product installation location.
  3. Double-click EXP900-IS-CRV-patch.exe to start the install process.
  4. When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
  5. After ArcGIS Explorer is installed, remember to restart any ArcGIS Services that you stopped prior to installing. Restarting your machine will restart your services automatically.
