Data Model User Group

Join the data model user group if you are an existing ArcGIS customer and want to learn more about design and architecture of personal or enterprise Geodatabase and become a part of ESRI’s growing data model community.

We invite user group members to participate in a series of instructional web casts. Please fill out the data model survey to give us feedback on what web casts you would like to see.

The ArcGIS Pipeline Data Model provides for two ways to use the data model. It can be used to migrate a project into ArcGIS, and can also be used as input to the ongoing process of discussion for the gas transmission pipeline industry on a common data model.

APDM is currently a template open for input review and testing by the community. APDM is created in the spirit of gaining gas transmission and pipeline industry acceptance of a common data model, with specific applications and data that will come from more than one commercial provider.

Visit the ArcGIS Pipeline Data Model site, or APDM, for more information related to Pipeline GIS, including UML and design templates to download. Or visit the GIS for Pipeline industry page for more information.

Downloads - Case Studies

These Case Studies are a good starting point to learn about best practices for this discipline. These project examples include sample geodatabases, map documents, and documentation.

Downloads - Design Templates

The Design Templates are the result of the community-based design process. The general concepts and terms for this discipline are described here. Tools and examples to create a template data model are also included for advanced users.
