Cause

This error occurs because each repeat is created as a table with relationship classes using the globally unique identifier (GUID) data type. ArcMap is unable to open a feature service with the GUID data type from ArcGIS Online. This is a known limitation. For more information, refer to BUG-000091817.

Solution or Workaround

Apply one of the following options to resolve the issue:

  • Open the feature service in ArcGIS Pro
Open the feature service in ArcGIS Pro. ArcGIS Pro allows users to open an ArcGIS Online feature service with the GUID data type.
  • Download the maintenance patch for ArcGIS 10.4.1
For ArcGIS 10.4.1, download the general maintenance patch to resolve the issue.
  • Upgrade to ArcGIS Desktop 10.5
This issue does not occur in ArcGIS Desktop 10.5.
  • Export the feature service as a file geodatabase from ArcGIS Online
Export the feature service as a file geodatabase and add the file geodatabase to ArcMap. For more information, refer to How To: Export a feature service to a file geodatabase feature class in ArcMap.
