Adding or deleting rasters in the mosaic dataset does not reflect in the published image service

Description

Adding or deleting rasters in the mosaic dataset is not reflected in the published image service.

Cause

After updating a GIS resource for a service, such as an MXD (map document) or raster dataset, the changes are not reflected in the service. Almost all types of ArcGIS Server web services reference a GIS resource. For example, map services reference an MXD, and an image service references a mosaic dataset. Adding or deleting rasters essentially modifies the GIS resource (a mosaic dataset), and restarting or overwriting the service is necessary after updating settings in the underlying GIS resource.

Solution or Workaround

Restart the image service after adding or deleting rasters in the referenced mosaic dataset.
