Frequently asked question

Why does a geocoding service return suggestions for addresses that do not exist within the source dataset?

Last Published: April 26, 2020

Answer

Only the street name values of the addresses from the primary table are indexed for the suggestion capability. House numbers or address ranges are not indexed for performance reasons.

Suggestions will be returned if the characters within the street name index matches the input entered by the user.

If a house number was entered, it will be combined with the matching street names.
