FAQ: Why does the GeoEvent Extension for ArcGIS Server lose its configuration when removed from a cluster?

Question

Why does the GeoEvent Extension for ArcGIS Server lose its configuration when removed from a cluster?

Answer

With ArcGIS for Server version 10.3, the GeoEvent Extension for Server relies on an ArcGIS Server site's registered cluster of GIS server machines to support distributed processing of event data. The GeoEvent configuration belongs to the cluster. If any of the participating machines leave the cluster, the local configuration is reset to empty state until it joins a new cluster.

Solution

Follow the step-by-step instructions in the GeoEvent Extension tutorial, Clustering in GeoEvent, page 34, see the section entitled Recovering Inconsistent Cluster, under Troubleshooting Configuration Clustering Issues.
