Cause

The web map contains a secured feature service with credentials stored in ArcGIS Online at the feature layer endpoint.

For Collector for ArcGIS to properly download the map for offline use, credentials must be stored at the top level, or the FeatureServer endpoint. This is because the Create Replica capability exists at the feature service endpoint and cannot be accessed through a feature layer endpoint such as FeatureServer/0 or FeatureServer/1.

If Collector for ArcGIS does not have access to the top level (FeatureServer endpoint), the download fails because the utility service is unable to determine if the service actually supports create replica or sync operations.

Solution or Workaround

There are two options available to resolve the issue.

• Choose the option to store credentials with the service, but add the feature service as an item in ArcGIS Online storing using the feature server endpoint.

For example:

http://sampleserver6.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/Wildfire/FeatureServer

• Choose the option to prompt for credentials each time, and add the feature layer URL as an item in ArcGIS Online using the feature layer endpoint

For example:

http://sampleserver6.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/Wildfire/FeatureServer/0

When opening and downloading the map in Collector for ArcGIS, the credentials must be supplied, but the map downloads.
