BUG

After upgrading License Manager to 10.2.2 from 10.2, the port settings in service.txt revert to the default settings

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

After upgrading License Manager to 10.2.2 from 10.2, the port settings in the service.txt file change back to the default settings.

Cause

The service.txt file is overwritten when License Manager 10.2 is upgraded to 10.2.2. This causes any port settings to be lost and revert back to the original default settings.

Workaround

The port settings must be reset back to their previous settings in order to lock the License Manager to those ports if a firewall is in place. To accomplish this, follow the steps below.

  1. To restore the port settings, open the service.txt file in a text editor.
  2. The service.txt file looks like this:

    SERVER this_host ANY
    VENDOR ARCGIS
    INCREMENT ACT ARCGIS 1 permanent 1 7ED49106D630
    vendor_info=864uskn8gfslpxe9t872

  3. The missing ports can simply be added to the service.txt file, as in the example below:

    SERVER this_host ANY 27000
    VENDOR ARCGIS PORT=27001
    INCREMENT ACT ARCGIS 1 permanent 1 7ED49106D630
    vendor_info=864uskn8gfslpxe9t872

  4. Save the modified file.
  5. Stop and restart License Manager.
  6. Re-read the licenses.
