HOW TO

Export a table to include domain descriptions and coded values

Last Published: September 29, 2022

Summary

When exporting a feature class to a dBASE (.dbf) that includes domains and subtypes, only the codes are included in a shapefile or .dbf output.

The 'Transfer field domain descriptions' option in the Environment Settings window must be enabled to include domains and subtypes in the exported table. This geoprocessing environment controls whether output shapefiles and .dbf tables have added fields containing domain and subtype descriptions, in addition to fields containing domain and subtype codes.
