How To: Install the FME Extension for ArcGIS to manipulate ArcPad AXF files

Summary

The instructions provided describe how to install the FME Extension for ArcGIS to manipulate ArcPad AXF files. The ability to use the Data Interoperability Extension to read the contents of an ArcPad AXF file is introduced with ArcPad 10 Service Pack 3.

Warning:
An ArcGIS Data Interoperability Extension license is required to use this functionality.

Out-of-the-box support for reading ArcPad AXF files is available in the Data Interoperability Extension starting with ArcGIS version 10.1. Until ArcGIS 10.1 is released, Safe Software (the company which develops a product called FME that the Data Interoperability Extension is built upon) is providing a temporary license of the FME ArcPad Data Interoperability Edition free-of-charge.

Note:
In ArcGIS Desktop, the FME ArcPad Data Interoperability Extension is referred to as the FME Extension for ArcGIS.

Note:
The FME Interoperability Tools toolbox replaces the Data Interoperability toolbox entirely.
