HOW TO

Use a UNC Path for a file-based Business Analyst Server Repository

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

When trying to use a UNC path to a Business Analyst Server Repository, a shared folder cannot be used as the folder to store the repository. The folder has to be contained inside of the shared location on the network path. If the shared folder is used, the Business Analyst Server Post Install fails.

Instructions provided describe how to configure a Business Analyst Server Repository to use a UNC path.

Procedure

To properly configure a Business Analyst Server Repository to use a UNC path, use the following steps in the Business Analyst Server file-based repository location page of the Business Analyst Server Post Install:

  1. Click the ellipsis button next to the box titled 'Specify the path to the repository folder. If the folder does not exist, post install creates it for you:'.
  2. Expand the Network node in the 'Browse for Folder' dialog box.
  3. Locate the machine name that has the shared location to store the Business Analyst Server Repository in and expand that node.
  4. Expand the shared folder that is to be used to store the Business Analyst Server Repository folder.
  5. • If the folder already exists, select it and click OK.

    • If the folder does not exist, click 'Make New Folder', create a folder for the Business Analyst Server Repository, and click OK. The specified path appears in the dialog box.
  6. Complete the Business Analyst Server Post Install.
