BUG

GIS Server Connection error

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

A GIS Server Connection error continues to appear at random intervals.

Cause

The 9.3.1 North America Geocode Service (ArcGIS Online) is currently set as the default locator. While this is a free locator, a subscription is needed for batch tasks.

Workaround

To prevent this error message from recurring, change the default geocoding locator to one that is not subscription based.

  1. Make the Business Analyst.mxd editable.
    A. From Windows Explorer, navigate to:
    \Program Files\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\Business Analyst\Data.
    B. Right-click on Business Analyst.mxd, and select Properties.
    C. Uncheck the Read Only option.
    D. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  2. Launch the Business Analyst.mxd.
  3. In Business Analyst, turn on the Geocoding toolbar.
