PROBLEM

The word 'County' is duplicated in the label for the County Labels layer

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

The County labels feature class displays the name 'county' twice in the Business Analyst mxd.

Cause

The expression for the Name field of the County labels layer erroneously includes the word 'County'. However, since each record already includes 'county', e.g., 'Riverside County', the word is duplicated.

Solution or Workaround

The label expression for the US label class needs to be modified to prevent the word 'county' from being repeated in the label.

  1. Right-click the County labels layer and click Properties.
  2. Select the Labels tab.
  3. Select US from the label class drop-down menu.
  4. Click the Expression button.
  5. Remove &vbNewLine& "County" from the label expression. '[NAME]' should remain in the expression dialog.

  6. Click OK.
