Installation of ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 SP1 fails while registering modules

Description

The installation of ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 Service Pack 1 fails during the 'Registering Modules' phase.

Cause

McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention software can prevent the registration of certain .dll files during the installation of ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 SP1.

Solution or Workaround

1. Uninstall ArcGIS Desktop.
