How To: Install ArcSDE on a machine running more than one DB2 instance

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to install ArcSDE for DB2 9.1 and 9.5 to the non-default instance on a machine running more than one DB2 instance.

When installing ArcSDE for DB2 on a machine with more than one DB2 instance, ArcSDE is installed on the default DB2 instance.

Procedure

Installing ArcSDE for DB2 on the non-default DB2 instance requires switching to the default instance using the Default DB2 and Database Client Interface Selection wizard.

  1. When installing ArcSDE for DB2 on a single non-default DB2 instance, record (write down or make note of) the current default DB2 instance and continue to Step 2.

When installing ArcSDE for DB2 on all DB2 instances (including the current default DB2 instance and any non-default DB2 instances), record the current default DB2 instance, then install ArcSDE for DB2 on the default DB2 instance.
  2. Use the following wizard to switch to the DB2 instance on which to install ArcSDE for DB2 as the default instance: In Windows, click Start > All Programs > IBM DB2 > DB295C (Default) > Set-up Tools > Default DB2 and Database Client Interface Selection wizard.
  3. Install ArcSDE for DB2 on the current instance.

    Note:
If there are more DB2 instances that need to have ArcSDE for DB2 installed, repeat Steps 2 and 3.

If all ArcSDE for DB2 instances have been installed, use the Default DB2 and Database Client Interface Selection wizard to switch back the default DB2 instance to the one recorded in Step 1.
