How To: Change ArcSDE dbtune parameters

Summary

ArcSDE dbtune parameters can be changed or modified using the ArcSDE command sdedbtune -o alter or by modifying the dbtune file and importing the file using the ArcSDE command sdedbtune -o import.

Procedure

To change the ArcSDE dbtune parameters, use one of the following steps:

  1. Using the ArcSDE command sdedbtune -o alter:

    Example of changing the geometry_storage parameter under the DEFAULTS keyword:

    sdedbtune -o alter -k DEFAULTS -P geometry_storage -v SDEBINARY -i esri_sde -u sde -p sde

    To confirm the parameter value was changed execute the following command:

  2. Using the ArcSDE command sdedbtune -o import:

    After modifying the dbtune.sde file located in the SDEHOME directory, import the file into the ArcSDE instance using the following example:
