Problem: Closing the Identify window in Internet Explorer may cause scrollbars to become locked

Description

Clicking the X to dismiss an Identify Result window in Internet Explorer may cause the scrollbars in the application to lock up and not move. This also causes the mouse cursor icon to not change when a new tool is selected. This situation continues until a location outside of the browser window is clicked.

This issue applies to the Identify tool that is included in the Web Mapping Application for the ArcGIS Server .NET Web ADF.

Cause

This issue occurs after installing the following Microsoft Windows Update:

KB956390: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer

Solution or Workaround

  1. Download and extract an updated version of the MapIndentify.js file used in the Web Mapping Application.

    Download MapIdentify.js
  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the location of the Web Mapping Application. An example is c:\inetpub\wwwroot\<WebAppName>.
  3. Navigate to the JavaScript folder and replace the existing MapIdentify.js with the new file.
  4. To update Manager so that all new Web Mapping Applications created in the future will include this fix, replace the MapIdentify.js file installed with the C# and VB.NET templates. The location of these files depends on the web site location and the instance name you specified during the ArcGIS Server install. By default, the location is 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ArcGIS'.
  5. To update the C# template, open Windows Explorer and navigate to
    C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ArcGIS\Manager\Modules\Applications\Templates\mv_cs\JavaScript.
  6. Replace the existing MapIdentify.js with the new file.
  7. To update the VB.NET template, open Windows Explorer and navigate to
    C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ArcGIS\Manager\Modules\Applications\Templates\mv_vb\JavaScript.
  8. Replace the existing MapIdentify.js with the new file.
