BUG

Upgrading the Spatial Reference of archive enabled data causes features in an archive class to disappear when zooming in

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

Upgrading the Spatial Reference of archive enabled data causes features in an archive class to disappear when zooming in.

Cause

The spatial index of the associated archive class does not get rebuilt, when a feature class that has been enabled for archiving is upgraded from low to high precision spatial reference.

Workaround

There are two possible workarounds.

Workaround 1: Upgrade the feature class to high precision prior to enabling archiving.

Workaround 2: Recalculate the spatial index on the feature class. This effectively rebuilds the spatial index of both the feature class and the archive class associated with the feature class.

To recalculate the spatial index:

  1. In ArcCatalog, right-click on the feature class and select properties.
  2. Select the Indexes tab.
  3. In the Spatial Index section, click the recalculate button.
